About the Boness Vet Staff
Looking after your pets in Bedfordshire
Although I was born and grew up in West London, from an early age I wanted to become a Vet. I was lucky enough to study veterinary medicine at Cambridge University from where I graduated in 1985. My working life began in Luton at a busy small animal practice, from where I moved after 18 months to widen my horizons in a mixed practice. After a few months I came back to Luton to run a small animal practice before starting on my own in Barton in April 1990.
Setting up my own practice was the realisation of my lifelong ambition - to own my own practice within a village community providing the standard of care and expertise one would expect from a big city Hospital. In the beginning I ran the practice as a single handed Vet supported by my very loyal helpers. After 4 years we grew enough to take on another Veterinary surgeon, and from there we have continued to grow.
Initially I lived on site in the old cottage but in 1997 I moved away to allow the cottage to be converted into overnight accommodation for the on duty nurse as well as more space for patients. I still live close at hand with my 2 dogs, who are on permanent retention as the canine blood bank!
My main professional interests are dentistry, endoscopy and geriatric medicine. I am about to embark on an MSc project with Middlesex University to research the curriculum for a Certficate in General Veterinary Practice.
I am also active within my profession, and am currently President of the Cambridge Veterinary Graduate Association, a team leader for my Vet School Trust Fund and President of the Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire Veterinary Society
I hope that the next 10 years will be as fulfilling for me as the last 10 and I will continue to get immense satisfaction from my professional career.
